Statement of Purpose

The purpose of the Maesbury Community Group is to endeavour to represent the best interests of the local community within the Ward of Maesbury with Aston.

In doing this the Group will take an active part in the following activities:

  1. Actively engage with the local community through regular contact and communication with updates on current issues within the community.

  2. Work to improve the quality of life for the local communty.

  3. Protect the local environment, countryside and wildlife in the local area.

  4. Work with the Neighbourhood Watch schemes in the community to try and improve the safety of the community.

  5. Help and support Maesbury School to provide the best possible primary education for the children within the community.

  6. Work with the Highways Department to improve road safety issues when required.

  7. Organise community meetings to discuss local issues when required.

  8. Endeavour to represent the interests of the local community at meetings where issues affecting the local community are being discussed such as public planning meetings etc., and present the opinions and views of the local community.

  9. Help and support the Parish Council to ensure the best interests of the community are represented and lobby the Council as required.

  10. Scrutinise all planning applications submitted to Oswestry Borough Council that will have a significant impact on the local community and raise issues when required.

  11. Request the support of the local community when the best interests of the community are not being represented or are being opposed for pecuniary gain, personal gain or selfish reasons.

  12. Evaluate the work of the Action Group and evolve to try and improve, expand and grow the group to engage with all parts of the local community.
